Great Country Farms is a 200 acre working farm in Bluemont, Virginia. I spent two days there in the past couple of weeks picking apples and pumpkins and having a great time enjoying all that they have to offer.

When we went to pick pumpkins we ran into the pumpkin princess! We were having a great time racing each other as we were coming down one of the big slides and there she was, standing by the pumpkin cannon area. It was almost like she was waiting for us! The girls had to have a picture so I was happy to oblige.

When we went apple picking there were so many options to choose from! We had to walk a little ways to get to the full trees after the wagon ride to the orchard but it was really worth it!

There were so many varieties of apples and some that I had never even heard of! They provide you with bags and you can just walk around and mix and match whatever kinds of apples that you want. I love that I got to bring home a bag full of fresh off the tree apples for my family to eat.

When we went pumpkin picking we took my girls. We didn’t know at the time but they take you out on a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch. There are no wheelbarrows so make sure and bring some canvas bags to carry your pumpkins back to the wagon to get to your car. We didn’t have bags so we were a site with all of the pumpkins and gourds that we chose.

From strawberries in the spring to corn in the summer to pumpkins and apples in the fall, Great Country Farms has a wide variety of fruits and vegetables literally at your finger tips for the picking. You can teach your children how food is grown and how fresh and full of flavor it can be when it is freshly picked. Check them out at their website to see what activities are going on! I hope you have as much fun as we did!
