Good Morning! As I have a very busy week ahead of me (and I am sure that all of you do too) I am going to make this short and sweet. Here is my 5 minute drain dump, enjoy!

SOCSunday-2015

I read this article on Huffington Post yesterday for the second time and it has kept me thinking all of the way into today. Exercise vs Diet, which one matters more?

Let me tell you a little about myself:

I work out 5 days a week. I take a cardio weight lifting class twice a week (60+ minutes) and do straight cardio (45-60 minutes) three times a week. I tread water in the pool while my kids are swimming, I park at the back of the parking lot so that I can add steps to my day, and I always use the stairs when I can. I know I work hard most days because I am not just sweaty, I am nasty sweaty. I work to muscle fatigue in class and feel it the next two days, and then do it all over again. I am not perfect, though. Some weeks life gets in the way and I only get to the gym 3 times total.

I eat protein, fruits, and vegtables on a regular basis. I eat very little “white” (sugar, flour, potatoes, rice), and when I eat grains they are whole grains. I don’t eat a ton a dairy or treats. I have given up soda and caffeine for a year at a time (twice) to see if that would help. I was a nutritionist in a former life so I know what I should and should not eat. Again, I am not perfect. I like a cookie every now and then, salad is my best friend but I like dressing (on the side), and I used t have an unhealthy relationship with Gobstoppers.

It has been years and I can’t lose weight. The only thing I have going for me is that I don’t gain anything either.

So what do you think:

When it comes to slimming down, which one matters more—exercise or diet?

I will leave you with this quote that I have heard a hundred times, and a version of it happens to be at the bottom of the article that I read that has kept me thinking about this for 2 days now –

“You can’t out-run a bad diet”

Truth?

This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. Don’t hate because I was a day late. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…

  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Link back to this post (feel free to use the SOC Sunday graphic).
  • Visit your fellow bloggers and show some love.
