At the beginning of November I surprised my daughter for her 12th birthday with a mother/daughter trip to Disney World. She had an amazing time but it is way too much to tell you about all at once. So I have broken it up into several posts that I will share over the next couple of weeks.

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights (Hollywood Studios)

We were in Florida from Thursday night until Tuesday morning with 4 day park hopper passes over Wine and Dine weekend. We wanted to make the most of our trip so we decided upon 1 day at each park with any leftover time going back and finishing up what (if anything) that we had missed. We knew that we wanted to see The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights display but the day that we went to Hollywood studios (Saturday) we were done around 2 pm riding everything and didn’t want to hang out for 4 more hours so decided to go back on Sunday night to watch the lights. Sunday was a really long day for us (going to 3 parks and starting at 7 am with no breaks) so by the time we hit the lights we were ready to sit down. Unfortunately there was no where to sit. The curbs, sidewalks, and benches were full an hour before it started.

*TIP: GET THERE EARLY IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A SEAT*

People even started sitting in the middle of the street. I truly thought I was going to lose Haley to exhaustion but after about 40 minutes of walking around and looking for anywhere to give our feet a little rest we found a small section of sidewalk in the middle of a family and they were more than willing to let us join them. I bought Haley a Coke and a cinnamon Mickey pretzel and I could see her mood brightening by the second.

About the lights: (Taken straight from the Disney website) This stunning spectacle started modestly in Arkansas as a single home’s annual display. Every year, Jennings Osborne and his family set up an elaborate collection of holiday lights. Over time, the collection of lights grew and grew… and grew! In 1995, the Osborne family decided to share their magic with the world. Walt Disney World Resort happily offered to become the new permanent home for this exceptional exhibition of holiday cheer.

When the lights started we knew the wait had been worth it! There were millions of glittering lights perfectly synchronized to holiday music. This year, the event takes place on November 7, 2014 to January 4, 2015 so you still have time to see it. It is a MUST SEE if you are heading to Disney World this Holiday season! Pictures do not do the lights justice!

We didn’t stay long but we did stay long enough to get one selfie. You can sort of see the Christmas Tree behind us.

It was such a fun event. The music. The lights. The cinnamon Mickey pretzel. Definitely something I am going to remember doing with her for the rest of my life! Which is a good thing because December 2015 is the last time you can see them! That is right you need to go now if you want to catch them one last time!

On the way out of the park we stopped and took a picture of her wearing the Sorcerer’s Hat as it being taken down this year. I know she doesn’t look particularly happy but this really is her happy face after 14 hours of walking, riding, and playing all day.
