Halloween is the one day of the year that it’s actually fun to consume things that look absolutely disgusting. This zombie guts shooter looks almost too gross for a Halloween cocktail, but don’t be fooled. It’s delicious.

The zombie craze has taken the world by storm… myself included. What is it about a rotting, undead, human that is so fascinating. Doing a zombie walk is definitely on my bucket list.

Halloween Cocktail

Halloween Cocktail

These shooters are perfect for the zombie fanatics in your life. They’re inspired by these zombie brain shooters. The lime in the vodka gives this Halloween cocktail a kind of hazy appearance and it’s the secret ingredient to create the “guts”. As you slowly add the bailey’s to the vodka, the lime curdles the baileys. The effect doesn’t last for long so don’t make these in advance. It’s not as powerful a curdle as when you combine Bailey’s and Schnapps, so it doesn’t feel chunky in your mouth. Although, I wouldn’t call it smooth either. After learning about this type of curdling effect I had all sorts of fun making drinks that look perfect for a spooky Halloween party without being to gross to consume. The zombie guts shooter is my favorite.

Technique

The technique is the other secret to get this Halloween cocktail to turn out right. It works best with really cold vodka, so keep it in the freezer until your ready to mix these up. Combine the baileys and food coloring ahead of time. It looks cool as part of a Halloween tablescape. Combine the vodka and lime juice and pour it into a shot glass. Now here’s the best part. Pull some Bailey’s up a straw and hold it in place with your finger. Slowly drip it into the shot. It will form little blobs that sink to the bottom. Have fun with your guests eating zombie guts instead of having a zombie eat yours.

Zombie Guts Shooter

Halloween is the one day of the year that it’s actually fun to consume things that look absolutely disgusting. This zombie guts shooter looks almost too gross to drink. Don’t be fooled though. It’s delicious.

  • 1 1/4 oz vodka (chilled)
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 3/4 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
  • red food coloring (You can use grenadine too but it's not red enough on it's own.)
  1. Combine Bailey’s and a drop of food coloring in a small bowl. If you’ll be making multiple shots, mix enough Bailey’s and food coloring for all the shots at once.

  2. Pull some Bailey’s up a straw and hold it in place with your finger. Slowly drip it into the shot. It will form little blobs that sink to the bottom. Enjoy!

Good luck with the zombies! Get them before they get you!
