Since I am celebrating my kids going back to school today here is my Throwback Thursday memory from back to school.
Favorite Back To School Memory
The summer between my sophomore and junior years in high school my family made a huge move from SHAPE, Belgium back to the States. I moved from a very small high school of 240 people to a huge high school in Maryland with almost 2000 kids in my grade. On the first day of my junior year I walked into the school and went straight to the counselor’s office. I was extremely anxious. Frankly, I was freaking out. the school was so big, people were everywhere and I was just not used to that. When the counselor called me up to the counter I thought I was going to puke. She asked my name and looked me up in the computer.
Counselor: I don’t have your schedule done yet. Did you ride a bus today?
Me: No, I walked.
Counselor: Good. Go home. I am too busy today to try and work this out. Come back tomorrow and that can be your first day.
Me: Do I need a note or something? No. Okay. Awesome. Bye!
I went home and didn’t go back for 2 days. It was not only the best first day of school, but it is also my Favorite Back To School Memory.

It is one of those things that I look back on and laugh. I just felt so out of place and at that age, forget it!
