I will be honest. I don’t like pizza. (Enter screams and shouts here!) I know. It is crazy. I found that delivery pizza has the worst crust. Maybe it is because it is usually frozen then thawed on the day that it is used. It is either thick and dense or so thin and crispy that it cracks with every bite. Neither of which is appealing to me at all. After years of trying and rejecting pizza time after time I decided to just make my own and see if it was any better. And oh boy was it better. I put together the most versatile and easy homemade pizza dough that you can image. It is ready in 5 minutes and you can make it as thin or as thick as you want.

When I was in Elementary School I used to trade my peanut butter and jelly and potato chips to Kelley Carroll for her slice of pizza at lunch. Why? I have no idea because I hated it! What was I thinking? I think I just wanted hot lunch at school. Ever since then I have been trying to find a pizza that I truly enjoy. I found that pizza. I was in Italy a few years back – right! The only place that I really enjoy pizza is in Italy!

Until now! I finally found a recipe that works for me! Try it out and let me know what you think!

Pizza Dough

This pizza dough is so easy the kids can do it themselves.

  • 1 Packet Fleischmanns
  • 2 cups flour
  • .5 tsp sugar
  • .75 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup HOT water
  • 3 tbsp oil
  1. To begin – mix with large spoon.

  2. Once it starts to form a ball ditch the spoon and use your WASHED and CLEAN hands. My husband (who has a lot of arm hair) always wears gloves to protect the dough.

I made the first batch used it right away. When we did the second batch we let the dough ball sit for five minutes before shaping and it was SO much better. They dough is great to sit for 5 – 20 minutes after mixing but no longer. If you wait longer than 20 minutes the dough gets hard to shape into a pizza pie shape so don’t wait too long.
