This Week:
On Thursday night I was supposed to go to a Girl’s Night Out blogger event but my friend Winnie came into town. Winnie and I worked together in Utah at a school. She moved a couple of years ago to the west coast and last year we moved to the east coast. Luckily her sister lives in DC and her parents live in southern Virginia, so that brings her out to visit about once a year. Thursday was the best night for her and I couldn’t miss seeing her and her husband so I switched plans and headed into the city. Traffic was horrible even though I was headed in at 7:30. It may have been the downpour of rain we were getting. Her sister and brother met us for dinner as well. We went to El Centro, on 14th St NW in DC. They have 3 floors; main floor with a lively open kitchen is the backdrop for the casual taqueria, a rooftop eatery with two open-air bars, or you can dine or lounge in the underground Tequileria, where bartenders craft Latin cocktails (with or without alcohol) and they have over 200 homemade tequilas. The atmosphere is really cool. they have these heads all over the walls that are lit up and the lighting would change color slowly so the atmosphere would change with the colors.
The food was good. I had chicken tacos that came with rice and beans but I only ate one after the chips and guacamole that we all shared as an appetizer. Luckily Winnie’s husband was able to take care of the other two tacos for me. It was so fun seeing old friends and hanging out after having a hard time this past year since we moved.
Saturday consisted of volleyball with Haley and trading in all of our gaming systems for a PS4. I haven’t had a chance to play yet, but Lewis did get me a Lego game so as soon as I get the chance I am going to play all day while the kids are in school 🙂
On Sunday I was invited through the Virginia Blogger group that I am a member of to take Adam to a private golf lesson at 1757 Golf Club in Dulles, Virginia. (Watch for a whole post about them next week!) We got there at 9 and started with a nice tour of their facilities. Adam was a little rusty as he hasn’t touched a golf club in almost a year. He had a good time and once he stopped thinking about it so much he did a good job. We might just have to start back up with lessons again.
Purchase Of The Week:
I don’t know what I was thinking because I typically do not eat fish. It was the way he was looking at me that did me in and made me want to buy some. I hate the smell of fish but he wasn’t stinky and as long as this guy is cooked on the grill outside, I am just fine. Yum! And since my purchase of the week was food I thought I would share this other purchase too:
Wegman’s fruit tart. Can you say yum? We ate this for breakfast every day this whole week. A little pricey but TOTALLY worth every penny!
