Last week I did a Milkshake Monday post. I let each of the kids make their own milkshake with any ingredients that they wanted. They all wanted OREO Milkshakes though. We ended up making 6, all with OREO cookies in them. The kids enjoyed last week’s Milkshake Monday so much that I decided we would keep making them through the whole month of July. It is a fun little treat that they have been looking forward to all week. Actually it was a great way to keep my younger ones in a good mood and getting along, because I used it as a reward! This week though I decided to make a flavor that I wanted instead of letting them choose their own.
Milkshake Monday: Raspberry (Berry) Milkshakes
For the second Milkshake Monday I stayed with the same basic recipe since I had all of the ingredients on hand.
Ingredients:
2 cups vanilla ice cream (Rice Dream or any other dairy free creamy frozen treat work just as well)
.5 – 1 cup milk (almond milk or rice milk work just as well) depending on how thick or thin you want it. We use about 1/2 cup because we like it a little thick.
But I added raspberries.
Instructions:
I take about 1/4 cup of raspberries (frozen or fresh) and put them into my Ninja and puree them. Once they are nice and liquefied I add the ice cream and milk. I blend until just mixed. Then I add another 1/4 to 1/2 cup of raspberries and blend them in just until mixed. This way you will still have some chunks in your milkshake (which is my favorite part).
Top with real whipped cream and a few berries to make it pretty and you are all set!
Note: I have a couple of kids that don’t like raspberries so I added strawberries to them in the exact same way and it turned out just as good. I also have one that doesn’t do milk very well so we used a non-dairy for her. We used Luna and Larry’s Organic Coconut Bliss in Vanilla Island for her “ice cream”, and I used Vanilla Almond Milk for everyone so I didn’t have to replace her “milk” with anything special. It was pretty tasty!
Do you love my cute milkshake glasses? They were given to me by my great friend Laura from Sterling Restaurant Supply in Sterling, VA, make sure and check them out here! These are some of the ‘Poolside’ line of glassware that they carry. They are shatterproof, dishwasher safe, very affordable and BPA Free! They are definitely my summer go-to glasses for the kids and outside on the patio. They are amazing. Nice enough for company but durable enough for the kids.
