With Thanksgiving tomorrow I was thinking about all of the things that I am grateful for and I remembered that I made this list at the beginning of October for a blog hop that I was participating in.
A little over a year ago we moved out here to the east coast from Salt Lake City and I know that I am not giving it the time and effort to be happy here. I have been complaining quite a bit, in fact I have been grumpy about everything for months.
So I made a list of things that I am thankful for. I need to remind myself that there are plenty of great things in my life.
10 Things That I Am Thankful For
- I am thankful for the beauty that surrounds me. All of the gorgeous trails, roads, and lanes that I drive on daily have so much more beauty than we are used to our west.
- I am thankful for my healthy family. Sometimes I take for granted that I have four healthy children that can play and learn and enjoy life.
- I am thankful for the many travel opportunities that living on the east coast affords me. I can be in New York city in 4 hours, Washington DC in 1 hour, Philadelphia in 2 hours, and Orlando in 13 (2 if I fly).
- I am thankful for my house (that affords me privacy when the kids get too loud) that has a huge grassy backyard perfect for playing, and our working vehicles that take us from place to place.
- I am thankful for my husband (who washes all the dishes because he knows that I hate doing them) who puts up with my crazy hair-brained ideas and schemes. He understands when I just need to go somewhere and that sometimes I just can’t sit at home and be content.
- I am thankful for this blog because it gives me a voice outside of my little town where I don’t fit in very well.
- I am thankful for my dog, Mojito, that keeps me company every day and every night. I think if I ever go back to working outside of the house we will both go though withdrawal.
- I am thankful for my washing machine and dryer. I do at least 10 loads of laundry a week. I know I am lucky to be able to do all of our laundry quickly at home.
- I am thankful for our decision to move outside of Utah. I wanted (needed) my children to see that there are many different kinds of people in the world. I needed them to meet people from other states, countries, and religions and see that we are all the same and no one is better than anyone else.
- I am thankful for my very well behaved kids. I know that they are all really good kids. They do what is needed and asked of them without (much) complaining. They are kids and kids will push their parents no matter what, but my kids really are extraordinary. They get themselves ready in the morning, they do their school work without question or complaint. I know I am so lucky to have these 4 kids.
What are you thankful for?
