Reindeer Dust Recipes

I have been a mother for 16 years to 4 of my own kids. Growing up I was a full time babysitter, nanny, and day care worker. Not to mention that I have a sister that is 10 years younger than me. So as you can see I have been supplying Christmas magic for hundreds of kids for a generation. During the past 25 years or so I have come across quite a few Reindeer Dust recipes. Here are my favorites. These are very easy and you probably have everything you need to make them already in your cupboard. I use recipes that do not use glitter as glitter can hurt some of our small animal friends that might decide to eat the Reindeer Food.

I am a person that has to have things that are easy to whip out and do with my 2 younger kids that still feel that during the holidays every second must be filled with joy and excitement. This is one of those easy and fun activities that my girls love to do. They can make a double batch, wrap them up, and take them to all of the neighborhood kids and it still only costs me pennies to make.

Magic Reindeer Food

  • 2 cups oats
  • ½ cup shredded coconut
  • ¼ cup brown sugar to sparkle
  • small cellophane bags
  • ribbon
  1. Mix together all ingredients.
  2. Scoop the mixture evenly into small cellophane bags.
  3. Tie with a bow.

Magic Reindeer Dust

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 2-6 Tbsp. red colored sugar
  • 2-6 Tbsp. green colored sugar
  • small cellophane bags
  • ribbon
  1. Mix together all ingredients.
  2. Scoop the mixture evenly into small cellophane bags.
  3. Tie with a bow.

You can attach this saying on a tag to the cellophane bags:

Sprinkle this reindeer food outside tonight.
The moonlight will make it sparkle bright.
As the reindeer fly and roam.
This will guide them to your home.

I know this is a very easy activity and it really only takes a few minutes but the fun come on Christmas eve when the kids go out to the yard and sprinkle the Reindeer Food.
