Before I had kids I wasn’t very worried about winter driving safety. I probably drove too fast, changed lanes too often, and rolled through my stops – even when it was wet or snowy outside. But now that I have kids, I see the error in my ways. You have to watch for little ones in the parking lot. You have to keep an eye out for kids sledding down the hill. And you have to make sure everyone in the car is buckled up – even teenagers and other adults. In fact, I won’t drive unless everyone in my car has a seat belt on, even the teenager that knows better than me ;)
We travel so often that my kids just know to buckle up and help little ones with booster and car seats.

Oh my gosh … that infographic reminds me of a funny story. My husband came to pick me up from school one night (I went to college as an adult). It was in the middle of winter in Missouri and he was dressed in a short-sleeved t-shirt and shorts. He had the heater cranked up to keep himself warm, but had my toddler daughter all zipped up in a snowsuit and strapped into her car seat. When I turned around to say hello to her, she was GREEN. I made my husband pull over and I unstrapped her and took off her snowsuit. I think I made it just in time before she hurled. (That’s just one more reason you shouldn’t leave bulky outer garments on your kids while they’re in their car seats!)

Oh my gosh! Crazy! I always used to get so hot in the backseat with my parents in the winter. They would blast the heat because they only had a light coat or sweater on and we were all bundled up and sweaty!
