Last Sunday my family and I attended the Gifford’s Ice Cream Tour Kick-Off Party. It was an event held at the Dulles Golf Center & Sports Park in Dulles, VA. The event started with a light dinner and cool drinks while we visited with other bloggers from our area.
Once dinner was eaten we were able to hear all about Gifford’s from Lindsay Gifford-Skilling, the General Manager, and John Chester Gifford Jr, VP of Sales. You could feel the passion that this family has for their company. We learned that Gifford’s Ice Cream is a family-business that began in the 1800s and is based out of Skowhegan, Maine. With 5 generations making amazing ice cream, this is definitely a family affair. The ice cream can be found in independent ice cream shops, on college and university campuses, in grocery stores and in restaurants all the way from Maine to the Mid Atlantic, and from the Mid-West all the way out to Nevada.
This summer, the Gifford’s Good Times Ice Cream Truck will be making the rounds in D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The truck will visit ballparks, recreation areas, community and fitness centers, and local businesses – passing out FREE samples and COUPONS of their Award-Winning Ice Cream. Check HERE to see their schedule!
Once the dinner was done we were set free to try the ice cream.
The kids were ‘jumping for joy’ when they were told they would get free ice cream with any and all of the toppings that they wanted.
After ice cream we had free run of the Dulles Golf Center and Sports Park. The kids were able to golf, hit balls in the batting cages and mine for “gems”. The weather was beautiful and everyone had a great time. The center was so big! They have space for company parties, birthday parties, as well as space for huge events.
The kids were not the only ones that had a good time either. The bloggers got in on the fun and enjoyed some ice cream as well. The ice cream was delicious, very creamy and fresh. Everyone had a great time at the event!
