This Week:
On Wednesday night I went to SRS in Sterling, Virginia for a Blogger Meet Up with Katie from Adventures By Katie. We met up with 11 other bloggers for a night of visiting, treats, and shopping.
I met a blogger who gave me a great referral for an Orthopedic MD and I am so excited! You might be asking yourself why is Kendra excited about a doctor? I have been looking for one for about a month now and I wanted a “real person” opinion. See I live in the boonies and I have heard a couple of HORROR stories about the local hospital so I have been looking for doctors a little further out from my house. There is great feedback about this doctor online, he takes my insurance (BONUS!!!) and now I have met someone that actually has seen him. I have an appointment on Thursday 🙂
Anyway, we had a great time at SRS and I picked out some great new dishes while I was there. I got several new pieces including this gorgeous bamboo salad bowl and serving utensils set. The bowl is HUGE!!! This picture just doesn’t do it justice. The coloring is beautiful and I love that the bamboo is so varied on the sides of the bowl. I haven’t used it yet, but I am planning on using it this weekend.
Saturday we decided to try going back to the local farmers market. I keep hoping that it will get better but somehow it always disappoints. I know I am just comparing it to the big farmers markets that I used to go to weekly in Utah but come on! So much is grown locally here why can’t I find a decent place to get some good local produce. Next week I am going to go to a different farmers market even if I have to drive 20 miles. I did get some decent (but not great) peaches and local blackberries but that was it. Not even worth taking a picture. Sad.
Saturday night Lewis and I went to see Lucy. Rotten Tomatoes Movie Info: An action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
Rated ‘R’. For what? I am not sure. No sex or nudity, not too much language (but who am I kidding? I dropped the “F” bomb twice today, luckily both times I was on my own and no children were in the room). I guess it was basically all about drugs and violence. Yeah, the ‘R’ rating is justified. It was only 1 hour and 29 minutes. Um, what did I just pay for? They could have at least made it an hour and a half. A good movie needs 2 hours to have enough time to establish a good plot with rising action, a climax, and a resolution. I got to see 3+ hours of those barefoot Hobbits running around the country side for the same price and that movie was actually good. Rotten Tomatoes says that 48% of the audience liked it. I liked about 48% of the movie. Wait for the Redbox and save $20.75 of your $22.00 is my advice.
Sunday we got up fairly early (for a Sunday). Okay, well we left the house about 10:00. What? I am lucky. My kids like to sleep in. We hit up Dunkin Donuts on the way to buy the girl’s some school clothes. We got about half of what they need and then the girls puttered out. They are definitely not shoppers. They must take after their Aunt? Grandma? Brothers? Who knows. Lewis and I both can do some major damage in the shopping department. Maybe that is why the kids don’t like to shop, whatever your parents like is uncool. I think they only wanted to come because we were taking the Jeep. Everyone likes to ride in the Jeep.
Tuesday morning I headed out bright and early to make a trip to Herndon, Virginia to participate in a pole fitness class at Diva Fit. Yes, I said a pole class. Watch for a full post on this next week. Let’s just say that unexpectedly, I was a natural. I think I may have missed my calling. I think this might just be the most fun workout that I have ever done.
Purchase Of The Week:
If you know what this is then you are awesome. If you don’t then you need to watch more Netflix.
Have a great week!
